December
December is always a magical time in Kindergarten. Besides our normal daily activities we also wrote letters to santa and the elves wrote us back. The six graders came in and read stories to us for a week. We worked hard on the shapes of Christmas book and studied the 12 months of the year as we made handprint calanders for our parents.

Veterans Day!
Today we celebrated Veteran's day. We read a book called September 12, and learned a song about America. The children really enjoyed finger painting the American flag, and writing in their journals about our wonderful country. We talked about how we are all Americans, and how we all need to look out for each other. We also enjoyed our service project, which was picking out a post card and a message and emailing it to the troops. Here is the link if your family would like to participate: http://www.letssaythanks.com

Staheli Farm Field Trip!
This week we had so much fun studying farm animals. One little girl as she was making a hen for our farm animal book put 4 legs on her chicken, and I said they only have 2, and she said no 4! I told her I guess we will find out tomorrow at the farm. The Staheli family was so kind to the kids. They milked a cow for us took us on a tour of their cattle and to the pumpkin patch on a trailer pulled by a tractor. The kids had fun seeing the pumpkin patch, because we had just studied the life cycle of a pumpkin, the week before. We also got to go to a petting zoo where the kids got to go inside the pens with the animals. Thanks to all the parents who donated snacks and their time with the kids. I'm sure this will be a highlight of their kindergarten year!!!
